Jane teaches media studies at UNSW – ranked Australia’s No 1 university in 2026. She is also an Adjunct Lecturer in Health Communications at The University of Notre Dame. Jane started her career as a journalist for The Australian and Daily Telegraph, before moving into hospital marketing with Ramsay Health Care, Australia’s largest private hospital group. This background shapes how she crafts and thinks about every health message, whether printed, digital or spoken. Jane also helps people “find their voice” through public speaking – from nervous international Masters students giving their first presentation, through to seasoned political campaigners on the hustings. In recent times, Jane worked with Dr Ramya Raman during her successful 2026 Presidential Election campaign for The Royal Australian College of GPs. The RACGP is Australia’s largest professional medical college with more than 53,000 members.

DigiMed Teaching Philosophy
A method built on curiosity and clinical reality
Jane’s pedagogical philosophy is rooted in constructive learning theory – but she never loses sight of the human at the centre of every encounter. She is also passionate about using clear, confident communication to shift real-life outcomes. “Communication isn’t one skill, it’s three,” Jane says. “A printed flyer has to work at a glance; a digital post has to survive the scroll and the spoken word is carried by pacing, tone, performance and presence.”

Activate prior knowledge first
Every session begins by surfacing what learners already know, creating a cognitive hook for new information to attach to.

Story-driven teaching Realistic case-study scenarios anchor every objective; cementing “learned” theory tied to the decisions a clinician faces at the bedside.

Safe spaces
Jane deliberately creates environments where uncertainty and error are welcomed. This safety net allows genuine learning and honest reflection.

Creative feedback and reflection
Learners receive specific, actionable feedback that drives improvement, rather than simply measuring performance.

Exceptional
Educational Leadership
Jane brings together the newsroom instincts of journalism, the clinical rigour of medicine and a genuine love of teaching. Her focus is:
Conceptual Clarity
Distilling complex medical and scientific concepts into clear, memorable frameworks. Learners often report topics they once found impenetrable finally “click”.
Learner-centred Empathy
Meeting every student where they are – whether it’s an early-career surgeon, a health communications student or a seasoned key opinion leader in medicine.
Digital Pioneer
An early adopter of AI in medical marketing, Jane has been instrumental helping organisations drive their “visibility” in an AI world.
Global Perspective
Jane has taught hundreds of international students and brings a powerful cross-cultural perspective to learning in tertiary education.
